Herbie Hancock - Man-Child

"Man-Child" - (1975)

RATING: 4.8
out of 5

"Man-Child" carries the Funk and the Fusion even further with a 3rd dose of Herbie Hancock and The HeadHunters. The group also welcomes many special new guests including Wah Wah Watson, Stevie Wonder, Louis Johnson, and Blackbyrd Mcknight to name a few. They return with yet another amazing album. The Funk is strong with this one. Songs like "Hang Up Your Hang Ups" and "The Trailor" serve up a high dosage of tight and danceable funk music. "Steppin In It" brings on an appearence from Stevie Wonder on harmonica and a feel similar to "Chameleon". In fact, Herbie uses the same synthesizer sound as well. The groove is still great and it brings on a great performance for the whole group involved. The slower tunes "Sun Touch" and "Bubbles" are much needed with all of the upbeat music on the rest of the album. Wah Wah Watson delivers a great performance on "Bubbles" with Psychedelic delay effects on his guitar. The album offers 6 tracks compared to 4 tracks each for "Thrust" and "Head Hunters".

1. Hang Up Your Hang Ups
2. Sun Touch

3. The Trailor

4. Bubbles

5. Steppin' In It
6. Heartbeat
